Mashes Sands
"Cold but sunny with calm winds" was the forecast yesterday morning... AND a low tide - perfect! I met Bob Thompson at Mashes Sands before dawn. We bundled up in the 27 degree dark, donned our rubber boots for crossing creeks, loaded up our gear and hiked off along the white sands of Wakulla County. As the dawn broke, we saw 2 eagles perched near their nest. This was my 3rd visit here recently, but this day Bob was leading me to some of his favorite low tide spots. I'm looking for the 2011 Florida Forever Calendar shot. My assignment is Bald Point - Dickerson Bay area... Mashes Sand is between the two, a peninsula that helps form the perimeter of Dickerson Bay. Here are some photos from yesterday. I'll be back for more.
